day 3: superhero

it’s sunday night, superheroes.

i hope you rested well, tended to your hearts and mended your capes.

i know there’s a lot going on. a lot to get done.

i know that sometimes it doesn’t seem like much is being accomplished. but you’re accomplishing it.

remember that you may not be able to change someone else’s poor decisions. or shift a mistaken opinion. step one of the plan for self-care may slip through your fingers in between groceries, laundry, and the unexpected project, or headache, or family need that just arrived.

you may not feel very much like a superhero. but i see you behind your desk, your cash register, your steering wheel, your badge, your stethoscope, your window, your dinner table, doing what needs to be done. i see you holding it together, navigating the mess, doing your very best.

it may not seem like enough. but it is everything.

i wish you a week of smooth rides, negative medical results, and frame-worthy spreadsheets. i wish you productive meetings, thankful customers, and impressed bosses. i wish you the next perfect Netflix binge, many snacks in the fridge, and comfortable landings on your couch.

and i wish you easy access to your secret weapon: a guilt-free “no,” to all the things you don’t need, want, or have the energy to do.
